Outreach
Our lab participates in several outreach efforts to increase awareness on rare disease research and quantitative genetics.
VUS Podcast
Our lab leads the VUS podcast, a series initiated by the Atlas of Variants Effects Alliance to raise awareness on the basic and translational research behind rare diseases with the hope that it will lead to better patient care. You can read more and listen to it on the AVE website .
INSPIRE
The Interdisciplinary Science Program in Research and Entrepreneurship (INSPIRE) is a two week programs that runs in the summer at UTM where students are introduced to quantitative-biology research and translational sciences. Students rotate with a group of labs where they perform demonstrations in the field of biophysics, computer science and computational biology (AI), biochemistry, and more. It is an immersive program designed to prepare students for graduate schools and for connecting their quantitative courses with real-world applications.
Our lab participates in INSPIRE yearly, with focus on understanding the role of mutations in proteins in disease and drug activity. Head over to the program's website to learn more.
